RAY SCHULTZ-Editorial Director
Ray Schultz, the editorial director of DIRECT magazine, has been covering direct marketing for 20 years. He joined DM News as a freelance reporter in 1981, and was named editor in 1986. He moved to DIRECT as editor in 1994. Shortly after joining DIRECT, Ray started DIRECT Newsline, the industry’s first daily online newsletter. In 2001, he won a Silver Apple Award and in 2002 was named List Leader of the Year by the Direct Marketing Association List Council. Prior to covering the DM beat, Ray wrote for the New York Times Magazine, National Lampoon, the Soho Weekly News and the East Village Other. He is now writing a book on the history of direct mail.

Charles Vietri has been DIRECT’s managing editor since September 1999. He joined the magazine in July 1997 as copy editor after working in a similar position at DM News. He has been an editor for 23 years.

BETH NEGUS VIVEIROS-Executive Editor
Beth Negus Viveiros is executive editor of DIRECT. She has been with the magazine since 1995 in a number of roles, including senior writer, managing editor and ancillary products editor. A graduate of University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, Beth is the former editor of 1to1 magazine and a former associate editor with DM News. She began her career as a reporter for the Warren Times-Gazette in Rhode Island. Other writing/editing credits include Insurance Conference Planner, ToyFare, Laundry News, Medical Meetings, Dasoku, Corporate Meetings & Incentives, the Sakonnet Times and the Bristol Phoenix. She has given presentations at events for several marketing industry groups, including the DM Club of New York and the New England Direct Marketing Association. Beth resides and works in the Boston area.

KRIS OSER-Online Content Editor
A business reporter for 15 years, Kris Oser has covered healthcare, employment issues and the legal beats. In her role as online content editor she oversees the DIRECT Web site, and the two e-newsletter dailies, Direct Newsline and Direct Listline. She also edits e-mail special reports that go out periodically. Kris has worked for DIRECT since 1999, and covers a number of direct marketing topics, specializing in Web marketing and regulatory stories.

LARRY RIGGS-Senior Editor
Senior Editor Larry Riggs has been covering the direct marketing industry for 15 years. He was managing editor of DM News for nearly eight years and helped bring it from a bi-monthly to a weekly. He joined DIRECT in 1995. His regular beats include business-to-business and the postal service, but he covers all aspects of direct marketing. A business reporter for more than 20 years, he has written about everything from the music and radio broadcasting businesses to discount retailing and industrial sales and marketing. A 1980 graduate of S.U.N.Y.@ Stony Brook, he is fluent in French and spent a semester in Paris. His French fluency was an asset in the early 1990s when many American direct marketers began expanding into Europe.

RICHARD LEVEY-Senior Writer
Senior writer Richard H. Levey has been a member of DIRECT’s editorial staff since April 1997. His beats include database marketing and customer relationship management. He also coordinates the magazine’s three industry benchmarking research surveys, and co-created and manages a consumer attitudinal research project with Yankelovich Partners. Richard created and writes "Loose Cannon," a weekly column that presents an irreverent look at the direct response marketing industry, for DIRECT Newsline. Before joining DIRECT, Levey was a market research project director at Simmons Market Research Bureau, a copy editor and paste-up man at Petroleum Intelligence Weekly, and a circulation analyst at Brant Art Publications. He graduated from Emory University with a B.A. in history and English in 1989. In his spare time Richard compiles "Marcy Tweed’s Unabashedly Liberal Political Scorecard and Rat Sheet," a biennial compendium of congressional foibles. He is also writing a novel geared toward children, which he hopes will be his first published book.
